More about me...
My first experience in teaching was in 1994 as a temporary teacher in Mentakab Secondary School, Pahang. I still remember that I was very excited and at the same time feel anxious as I was going to the school where I spent five years as a student and then as a teacher. I taught Malay Language and Moral Education for Form One and Two classes. Personally, I experienced many great moments as a teacher at that time and I never thought that my career path will be in education field.
Currently, I am Senior Lecturer in Social Work Programme, School of Applied Psychology, Social Work and Policy (SAPSP), College of Arts and Sciences, Universiti Utara Malaysia. Currently, I am teaching volunteerism (SSWP1033) for undergraduate level using a student centred learning of project based learning (PBL). Other courses that I taught for undergraduate level including Social Issues & Policies (SSWT1033); Law and Social Work Services (SSWT3613); Ethics and Law in Helping Profession (SSWT2043); Administration and Management Of Social Service Organizations (SSWT3023); and Intervention Strategies with Organizations and Communities (SSWA2303).
I am also taught for Executive Certificate of Social Work Practice (SEAKS) for Parole Officer, Prison Department of Malaysia and Social Work Practice of Executive Certificate for Malaysia Social Welfare Department Staff. Working closely with matured students who has working experiences for more than 10 years in the field of community development, brings another dimension on my teaching and learning experiences.
For postgraduate level, I am teaching on a social work macro practice of SSWT5043 Managing Human Service Organizations, SSWT5033 Policy Planning and Analysis, SSWT5153 Program Evaluation in Social Services and SSWT5013 Social Work and Welfare Services in Asia for both campuses UUMKL and Sintok. Most of MSW students are from various settings - Welfare Department, NGOs, SOCSO, Royal Police Department and Health Department. |
